Inova Fairfax Hospital Flower Delivery Guidelines

Inova Fairfax Hospital maintains delivery policies to protect patient safety and care environments. Our team follows these guidelines closely and will contact you if an adjustment is required.

• Volunteer Receiving Hours: Monday–Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.
• Patient information required: Full first and last name, plus room number if available.
• If a patient is not listed on the hospital census, the delivery cannot be accepted.

Items & Size Restrictions

• Plants must be 30 inches tall or less with pots no larger than 8 inches in diameter.
• Large arrangements may be declined if they interfere with patient care access.
• Fruit baskets (including Edible Arrangements) are not permitted.
• Packaged food gifts must be sealed in manufacturer packaging.
• Up to five (5) balloons are permitted. Latex balloons are not allowed.

Units That Do Not Permit Flowers or Plants

Certain units at Inova Fairfax Hospital do not allow flowers or plants due to infection-control and care needs. These include intensive care, oncology, and neonatal units.

• Cardiovascular, Coronary, Trauma, Medical & Neuroscience ICUs
• Oncology units (including Pediatric Oncology)
• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Some pediatric units may allow flowers with verification at delivery

Policies are subject to change. Unit acceptance is verified at the time of delivery.
